Swindon Town 1 Mansfield Town 0

                                                    Taylor (39)

Matt Taylor proved to be the match-winner as Swindon Town completed the league double over Mansfield on a wet and windy afternoon at The County Ground.

A wonderful counter-attacking move, not often witnessed at League Two level, proved to be the difference between the two promotion hopefuls.

In a first-half that was as entertaining as it was open, both sides had chances to put themselves in front early on.

Marc Richards had an appeal for a penalty waved away by Premier League referee, Kevin Friend and Kane Hemmings found himself with the freedom of Swindon to put Mansfield in front after a goal kick bounced over everyone, however the on-loan Oxford striker not only lobbed Reice Charles-Cook but also the goal.

Both teams continued to create chances as the half went on. Timi Elsnik shot wide before an outstanding stop from Conrad Logan denied Keshi Anderson from 25 yards.

After weathering a brief Mansfield storm midway through the first-half, Swindon edged in front five minutes before half-time. A majestic counter-attack involving Anderson, Elsnik and Matt Taylor ended in the latter driving underneath Logan to give Swindon the lead.

The second half failed to live up to the quality of the first but the game remained just as open.

Swindon seemed to be happy to withstand the pressure that Mansfield were thrusting upon them while still carrying a threat of their own.

A deep cross from Kyle Knoyle was headed goalwards by Keshi Anderson, only for Rhys Bennett to deny Swindon their second via a goal-line clearance.

Mansfield continued to pour forward but only really threatened from long range and were never presented with a golden chance to equalise.

Alex MacDonald, Malvin Benning and Paul Anderson all had speculative shots but Swindon held out to record their fourth home win on the bounce.
