International Language Day

By Shirley Ludford On Thursday 9th February 2017

We are pleased to introduce ourselves as a cultural group named Ektara organising an event to observe International Mother Language day 2017 in Swindon. We strongly believe that you are aware of “International Mother Language Day” which is proclaimed by UNESCO in 1999 and is a red letter day to be observed annually on 21 February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

We have planned to remember language martyr’s by laying flowers at a temporary built “Shaheed Minar” (language martyr's monument) on 21st February 2017, Tuesday.

The event will take place at Wharf Green in Swindon Town Centre at 12:01pm. A local MP, Mayor and Councillors will attend the event with all other people in Swindon.

To make this event more successful we like to invite you to attend the programme.

Please see the link for a very brief history on International Mother Language Day. A location map is also linked here which will help you to locate us. We will be at the meeting point from 11:00am and will start walking (slowly) down to Wharf Green at 11:55am. We will lay flower together at 12:01pm.
