Themed Weeks
At SWINDON 105.5 we believe in giving quality time for quality conversation and in providing opportunities for subjects to be discussed as widely as possible - so we frequently broadcast a special week on a particular subject, Mondays to Fridays, between 9 and 10am. Subjects covered include...
Family Learning : family opportunities, cycling, home studying, people with disabilities, children, older age groups. Learning English as a second language. College courses. Business Courses. WEA. U3A. Swimming.
Fostering Week (click for details) Male carers, people who have experienced being in care, Care Workers, a mother who's children had been in care, NCH members and Swindon Borough Council representatives
Refugee Week Factual, emotive and inspiring stories from local refugees. Key workers and Local Authority representatives. The week culminated in being part of a celebratory event at Swindon's Pilgrim Centre where we also met the World's tallest man, a refugee now living near London.
Anti Bullying Week A week in association with the Swindon Anti Bullying Alliance. Features and interviews with police, children who produced a special DVD and others who read poetry and talked about their experiences. Adults who experienced home or workplace bullying. The National Bullying Helpline in Swindon. The Local Authority. This was followed up by Monday 17th - Friday 21st November Daily features, guests and music, leading to anti-bullying event at Swindon's Wyvern Theatre on Friday 21st November hosted by SWINDON 105.5
Mind Over Matter (September) A week on issues relating to mental health, attitudes, experiences, individuals' stories, creative minds, agencies who can help - and asking about the delays in obtaining help and support. The week was co-ordinated by local young ladies - Sheena and Rachael - who have both suffered mental illness.
NOVEMBER Remembrance Week: daily features and stories commemorating and celebrating local people and organisations, in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday. SWINDON 105.5 is proud to support the annual Remembrance Festival at the Wyvern Theatre. .......................................................................................................................................
HAVE A HEART: started with a week of peoples' stories and experiences, meeting organisations who help those with heart issues, following on from the launch of Swindon's first British Heart Week on 30th January, supported by SWINDON 105.5
ART TO ART WEEK : a series of arty issues, people, and discussing plans for arts development in Swindon in April. Linking with the Cultural Partnership and in assiciation with the Anne Frank Exhibition
CARERS' WEEK : meeting those who are cared for and those who care; issues and inspiring stories
AL ANON : a week looking at the different aspects of families of alcaholics, issues and support available
