EDUCATION

At SWINDON 105.5 we are a pro-active Community Radio Station when it comes to Education. We have worked on projects with many local schools which have led to features, programmes and creative projects and all broadcast on air, as well as addressed specific issues.

"Just wanted to say thank so you much for having me for the week! I really enjoyed myself and learnt a lot!  Thank you"  Bea x  (College student)

  • "I've had the best two weeks of the year, at SWINDON 105.5 on work placement - and I will be back to become a Trainee then Volunteer here"  Dom  (College Student)

  • "I just wanted to say thank you for having me the last 2 weeks. It was a big help and I learnt a lot from the experience that will help me with my uni course"  Emma (Uni student)

  • "Priory College Swindon have been building relationships with Shirley and Swindon 105.5 for the past 18 months. We have had a couple of groups participate in a 6 week Radio production skills course, whilst also having 3 students volunteer at the radio station.
In addition to the Radio production skills learnt, we feel that the station is a great opportunity for our learners (many who have social communication difficulties) to develop their social skills, whilst also building confidence, self-esteem and teamwork skills.
Shirley is also extremely good at working with our students, her knowledge, experience, patience and calming demeanour is very effective! The environment is also popular with our learners.
The volunteers are extremely friendly and helpful and our students get the opportunity to meet a variety of people within the community
